About
About us.
Nature Integrity is a project of AF Labs, based in Freising, Germany. It's run by Dr Andrew Fairbairn, an ecologist who builds the hardware and the software.
Why this exists
Ecology has a measurement problem. The methods that give you trustworthy numbers don't scale, and the ones that scale don't reliably give you trustworthy numbers. Meanwhile decisions about land, permits and restoration get made on estimates nobody can check.
Closing that gap is an infrastructure job, not an app. Sensors that survive a winter. Networks that reach places with no signal. Data other systems can actually use. It's slow, unglamorous work, which is roughly why nobody has done it.
How we work
- Scientific integrity over impressive demos
- Real-world reliability over controlled performance
- Methodological advances over incremental improvements
- Long-term infrastructure over short-term products
Easy to write, harder to stick to. The practical version: we'd rather show you a method you can attack than a number you have to trust.
